The new play

"TRAUMA" is the new play of Torsten Buchsteiner.

The play is a bitter-sweet love story between two very different women.

Verena (38) is running a women's shelter and Kitty (22) is giving HipHop Classes in a Fitness-Studio.

By chance they meet in a Bar and they discover that they share a similiar kind of dark past.

But the more they disclose to each other the more it hurts.
It is a long way to trust, to rely and to find a way together out of the "Trauma".

In Scandinavia the play is represented by
Berit Gullberg, Colombine, Stockholm

WORLD PREMIERE at "Royal Dramaten" in Stockholm, Sweden

The play "Nordost" (Northeast) is about the original hostage-taking in the Moscow musical theatre in october 2002.

Three women in Moscow.

Zura – a Chechen „Black Widow“. Together with 41 other hostagetakers she storms the Moscow theatre on 23 Oct. 2002.

Olga – a Russian accountant. Together with her husband and her nineyearold daughter she attends the performance of the musical ‘Northeast’ on that Wednesday.

Tamara – a Latvian doctor. She is on duty in an ambulance that night. The Chechens accept that she takes medical care of the hostages.

From three perspectives the play narrates the outrageous occupation of the theatre with its 850 captive members of the audience, until the Russian special forces spread deadly silence after a poison gas attack.

In his moving play Torsten Buchsteiner refrains from touching the question of guilt. He gives a voice to women who use the impact of the existential threat to look for traces that point beyond the three days of the hostage drama in October 2002.

Winner of the "Else-Lasker-Schüler-Play-Award" 2005.

Winner of "1. St. Galler Playwright Competition" 2005.
